About Museum Africa
Museum Africa displays the fascinating cultural history and ancient past of South Africa through a collection of San artwork, a photography museum, and life-like exhibitions of shanty towns and shebeens that demonstrate life in the townships and squatter camps of Soweto.
The museum has a dedicated section displaying the documents from Nelson Mandela's trial and other anti-Apartheid activists who fought in the liberation struggle. There is also a "Johannesburg Transformations" exhibit showcasing the effects of gold mining on the economic and social development of Johannesburg.
